Crystal Mountain and The Summit at Snoqualmie, WA
Crystal’s plans to build a large base area development with two new motels and 10 new chairlifts are coming under fire from local environmental groups, including the Crystal Conservation Coalition. The Forest Service is finalizing a draft environmental impact statement for the area, which operates on Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Nearby, four ski areas that make up “The Summit at Snoqualmie” also look to add lifts, and would need rerouting of a state highway to accommodate a larger base area. One of those areas, Alpental, borders an old-growth forest of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness.
