At a shade over 12 ounces, the Nine.9MX is the lightest lid I tested, thanks to an in-molding process that bonds the shell and polystyrene liner as one. Although it lacks the thick liner of most other helmets, three sets of strategically placed pads make comfort superb. Twelve chimney vents mean it’s one of the few helmets you can hike in, removable ear flaps add versatility, and the visor gives it that sick moto look you’ve been hankering for. Standard: ASTM.
