Kà¤stle Launches Line of High Performance Skis

WELS, AUSTRIA – (News Release – October 18, 2007) — Kà¤stle Ltd., the new owners of the storied Austrian ski brand, has unveiled its line of four men’s skis and four women’s skis for 2008-09. The new skis feature the same handcrafted quality that made Kà¤stle famous for 80 years, combined with the latest in wood-core ski technology and construction. Kà¤stle skis will be available in North America and Europe at selected retailers in late 2007.

“This line of skis is the culmination of over two years of research, development and extensive testing, states Kà¤stle Ltd. president, Siegfried Rumpfhuber. “We’re confident that we’ve created high performance skis that will live up to Kà¤stle’s strong heritage and meet the demands of today’s discerning skiers.

Kà¤stle’s 2008-09 line-up includes a men’s and women’s version of the RX, the MX78, the MX88 and the MX98. Every Kà¤stle ski features sandwich sidewall construction, an ash wood core, two layers of titanium and Kà¤stle’s patented Hollowtech technology. Hollowtech significantly reduces the mass of the ski’s tip, which dampens vibration, allows faster edge transition and provides better tracking.

With a 118mm tip, a 70mm waist, and a 100mm tail, the RX is a smooth, powerful frontside ski with precision edge control, high speed stability, and short turn liveliness. The RX also features Kà¤stle’s proprietary KTI binding interface that allows the ski to bend in a natural arc and distributes edge pressure along the entire length of the ski for a vice-like grip on the snow. The RX will come mounted with either the Kà¤stle K14 (DIN 5-14) or Kà¤stle K12 (DIN 3-12) binding. MSRP is $1,400 USD.

The MX series is Kà¤stle’s all-mountain, high performance ski line, available in three different dimensions. The MX78 (121-78-105) is on-piste master with enough versatility and flotation to rip backside turns. MSRP is $1,550 USD mounted with the Marker Duke binding and $1,450 USD with the Marker Jester.

The MX88 (128-88-113) is a true freeride ski with unrivaled power, stability and control to handle every imaginable condition on the mountain. MSRP for the MX88 with the Marker Duke binding is $1,550 USD and with the Marker Jester binding MSRP is $1,450 USD.

The MX98 (132-98-117) is a smooth and stable powder specialist, with enough torsional rigidity to handle mach speeds on the groomers. MSRP for the MX98 is $1,600 USD with the Marker Duke and $1,500 with the Marker Jester.

Kà¤stle’s four ski models are also available in women’s versions, featuring the same graphics, performance and quality construction as the men’s skis. Taking into consideration women’s geometry, Kà¤stle’s women’s skis have a slightly softer flex pattern and come in shorter lengths but have the same width dimensions as the men’s skis.
