Kimberley Announces Benefit Golf Tournament

Calgary, AB August 11, 2004 – The Canadian Avalanche Foundation (CAF) along with Resorts of the Canadian Rockies (RCR) would like to announce the 1st Annual CAF “Welcome to Winter Golf Tournament.

This unique event will be hosted from October 1-3, 2004 at the Kimberley Alpine Resort in Kimberley, BC. The tournament includes one round of golf at Trickle Creek Golf Resort, which recently won accolades from Golf Digest Magazine as one of the Top 10 “Places to Play in Canada and one round at Bootleg Gap Golf Course, a beautiful golf facility that just opened in 2002. Tournament guests will enjoy two nights accommodation at the Trickle Creek Residence Inn by Marriott, a full-service resort hotel located at the base of the Kimberley Alpine Resort.

The price for this tournament is just $2200 for a team of four or $600 for an individual with net proceeds of this event supporting the Canadian Avalanche Foundation. There is limited space for non-golfers to join in the weekend event at a cost of $500/person. A charitable tax receipt of $200/person will be issued upon request.

The tournament price includes:

1 round of golf at Trickle Creek Golf Resort and 1 round of golf at Bootleg Gap Golf Course*

2 nights accommodation at Trickle Creek Residence Inn by Marriott

All breakfasts and lunches

Opening night reception on the Friday evening

Silent auction and banquet on the Saturday evening
*Not included for the non-golfers package.

“This tournament is a great opportunity for ski enthusiasts and members of the ski and mountain travel industry to get together in a fun environment, discuss the upcoming winter and support public avalanche safety initiatives and education projects, says Chris Stethem, President of the CAF. In it’s inaugural year, we see this event as a long-term endeavour to increase awareness and funding for the Canadian Avalanche Foundation.
