Boulder, Colo. Dec. 20, 2001 (AP)–Dreaming of a white Christmas? Your dreams are most likely to come true if you live in the western mountains.

Recent storms have created a fine atmosphere for sledding and snowmen from the Cascades and Sierra Nevada Mountains to the Rocky Mountains. A storm expected to move into California Thursday may also bring snow to the mountains around Los Angeles, according to AccuWeather forecasts.

Snow is also likely across the Dakotas and Minnesota Saturday, And cold air surging south from a Plains storm may turn rain into snow for Missouri and Kansas.

The same storm could produce snow in the East on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day _ but the chance of snow is slim in much of the eastern third of the country. Those between Michigan and central and northern New England have the best chance of a white Christmas.
