Mt. Bachelor Opening Tuesday, November 23

Bend, Ore. November 17, 2004 — Mt. Bachelor will be one of the first resorts in the Northwest to open for the 2004-2005 Season when lifts start running Tuesday, November 23.

“Our snowmaking system is paying off, said Mt. Bachelor President Dan Rutherford. “Right now we have a base of 12-36 inches on Thunderbird and cold weather will allow additional snowmaking through this weekend.

“Up to eight inches of snow is forecasted for Thursday and a strong storm system is expected Thanksgiving weekend bringing another 16 inches, said Rutherford. “This will provide for great early-season conditions.

Running on Opening Day from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm will be the Pine Marten Express, Skyliner Express, Sunrise Express and Sunshine Accelerator chairlifts. The West Village and Sunrise Lodges will be open on Tuesday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The Cross Country Center and Nordic trails will also open Tuesday with 10 to 20 kilometers of groomed and tracked trails. Early-season snow conditions apply, watch for unmarked obstacles and stay on groomed runs. Bachelor Super Shuttles will run starting Tuesday on a mid-week schedule, and holiday schedule Thanksgiving Day through Sunday, November 28. The Ski and Snowboard School and Mt. Bachelor Daycare Center will be open at West Village starting November 25. Reservations are recommended. The Snowblast Tubing Park opens on Friday, November 26, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

For those still needing to pick up Season Passes the pass office in Bend at 115 SW Columbia Street is open weekdays 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and Saturday 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. On Opening Day the pass office will move to the Guest Services Building at West Village and be open daily.

The Summit Express, Rainbow, Outback Express and Northwest Express chairs will run as soon as snow conditions allow.
