New Hampshire Gets a Royal Visit

Bretton Woods, NH, Feb. 14–Royalty visited the slopes of New Hampshire last week. His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent arrived at Bretton Woods Ski Area, NH, on Feb. 8, via Portsmith, NH, to a reception by the state’s department of Travel and Tourism Development.
The state of New Hampshire invited the prince to promote international tourism and trade. Prince Michael also participated in a silent auction to raise funds for the Flying Hospital, one of his favorite charities, and the Littleton Regional Hospital. The Flying Hospital is an international mobile hospital with a fully equipped surgical team based out of Virginia.
Of course, the first cousin of Queen Elizabeth also wanted to try out the ski slopes of New Hampshire. On Thursday Chris Ellms, Bretton Woods director of operations, led the prince on a tour of the new West Mountain before the prince went on to make a few turns at Loon Mountain, NH.
After skiing, Bonnie MacPherson, Bretton Woods public relations director reported, “His Royal Highness mentioned that he was quite surprised with the fine quality of conditions at Bretton Woods, and that he doesn’t understand why more residents of the UK haven’t opted for ski holidays in New England.”
The prince left New Hampshire early Friday Morning for a Fly Hospital benefit in Houston before returning to the UK.
