Beaver Creek, CO – (News Release) – With two feet of snow falling at mid-mountain in the past five days, Beaver Creek will open its newhigh-speed quad chairlift in Larkspur Bowl at 9 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 9. The new lift replaces a triple chair and will deliver powder seekers to their favorite intermediate bowl skiing and advanced chutes in less than six minutes.

Mountain operations crews will have 78 percent of the mountain’s terrain open starting Friday, thanks to strong early-season snowfall. Skiers and riders can enjoy 1,264 acres of terrain and 79 trails served by 10 lifts. Fresh tracks can be found in intermediate Larkspur Bowl, Larkspur’s intermediate runs Paintbrush and Bluebell and advanced runsYarrow, Three Tree Gully, Lupine, Shooting Star and Loco.

“The new lift is the resort’s tenth high-speed quad and is a key part of our commitment to improve the village-to-village skiing andriding experience in Beaver Creek. Two years ago, we opened a high-speed quad serving the Birds of Prey terrain. Last year, we opened two high-speed quads and Beaver Creek Landing, an alternative entry point for the mountain. These combined efforts are designed to make it easier and more convenient for skiers and riders to move around the mountain,” said John Garnsey, Chief Operating Officer for Beaver Creek.

The new Larkspur Express Lift (#11) has a vertical rise of 1,525 feet and cuts the ride time in half, from 11 to just five and one-half minutes. Lift capacity is increased from 1,800 to 2,600, bringing Beaver Creek’s total uphill capacity to 31,539 people per hour. The lift has 17 towers and 117 chairs and is 5,278 feet in length.

On Saturday, Dec. 10, the resort will open the Highlands Lift (#2) to provide additional access to the beginner Haymeadow terrain that is currently open.
