Following a compass-wielding guide through a whiteout in British Columbia’s Selkirk range, I found the Light Speed jacket to be as protective as a good tent. As snow whistled by in every direction, this Gore-Tex fortress kept me cozily oblivious to both wetness and windchill. Velcro cuffs and drawstrings at the hood and waist¿though difficult to grip with gloves¿seam-sealed the package. Sizing down to medium gave me a perfectly sleek fit, which was key for wearing a pack.
