Presidents' Weekend at Killington Caters to Families

Killington, VT Jan. 28, 2004 (Press Release) — History repeats for the 2004 Presidents’ Vacation Week at Killington Resort, the largest ski and snowboard resort in the East, as the Family Fun Center at Rams Head brings a winter’s worth of activities and programs to parents and children of all ages. In addition to the numerous off-mountain options, the mid-winter season typically offers slope choices of around 200 trails – terrain tailored to every ability level.

“We’re looking for a repeat of last year’s snow conditions and planning for even better events and activities, said Josh Arneson, events director at Killington. “Families get a chance to spend time together outdoors, while the programs keep the kids happy and give parents a chance to relax.”

Ski Week Activities
The school holiday week begins on Monday, Feb. 16 with a welcome party where a magician entertains and guests have an opportunity meet locals, employees and other families. Free activities are ongoing during the week. Guests can ride in a horse drawn sleigh, take in a fireworks display in the mountain setting or come to one of the family fun nights and see a professional puppet show. After the lifts close guests can head to the Winter Adventure Center located at the Killington Golf Course to keeps the grins grand. Popular with families are the 100-yard long and night-lit snow tubing lanes, another beneficiary of the most extensive snowmaking system in North America. After a day racing down the mountain virtual fans can take that racing spirit to the Winter Adventure Center Video Arcade.Not to be missed is dinner at 4,241 feet at the Peak Restaurant atop Killington Peak, the highest lift-serviced peak in New England. The K1 Express Gondola carries guests to the restaurant while allowing for a rare nighttime view of the Killington Region.

Snowboard Rail-Jam
A Presidents’ Week vacation also coincides with one of Killington’s special events that attracts talented snowboarders from around the region. After a successful inaugural year, the Second Annual Budweiser Dead Presidents’ Snowboard Rail Jam returns to The Beach Terrain Park at Snowshed on Sunday, Feb. 15 with thrills and spills for spectators and competitors.”Everyone had a great time last year at the Rail Jam,” said Arneson. “Look for bigger and better prizes this year, which tend to raise the level of competition.”Four and six day “Presidents’ Birthday Bash” packages start at $98 per person per night.
