KILLINGTON, Vt. Mar. 9, 2004 – In an unprecedented move to keep snow conditions in mid-winter form for several more months, Killington Resort is taking the offensive by firing up the most extensive snowmaking system in North America to an extent typically only seen during the early season.

“We have never made this much snow in this many different places at this time of year,” said Dave Lacombe, snow surfaces manager for Killington. “Killington is known as the king of spring. This year we’ll live up to it and then some. From Snowdon Mountain to the Skyeship Base and Killington Peak to Snowshed, we’re laying down the good stuff.”

Skiers and riders are being offered a special $229 March into Spring Pass that is valid every day of the week until the end of the season, which lasts through the month of May at Killington. The $229 March into Spring Pass is valid at all of American Skiing Company’s eastern resorts including Killington, Pico, and Mount Snow in Vt., Attitash Bear Peak in N.H., and Sunday River and Sugarloaf/USA in Maine.

In addition to this year’s unprecedented snowmaking surge, Killington typically receives over six feet of natural snow after March 1st each season. Skiers and riders looking to enjoy the longer days, deep snow and springtime party atmosphere that Killington is famous for can reserve a Ski and Stay package at killington.com or by calling (800) 621- MTNS. There are numerous specials available including a 3- for-2 deal where midweek guests can get their 3rd day and night free of charge.

Not only is Killington offering skiers and riders the benefit of deeper snow, but also a jam-packed line-up of events through the coming months. Events like the 24th Annual Bear Mountain Mogul Challenge presented by Budweiser, the 11th Annual Spring Loaded Snowboard Pro/Am and the 23rd Annual Pond Skimming and Special Olympics Penguin Plunge are just a few of the events that complement the longest skiing and snowboarding season in the East. For more information about Killington events guests may call the events hotline at (802) 422-1700 or visit the events page of killington.com.
