Ski Brule First in Midwest to Open

Iron River, MI, Nov. 16–Early this month, Ski Brule, located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, once again preserved their longstanding reputation as the first to open in the midwest and opened for weekend skiers.
Their opening, on Nov. 5, is well ahead of other Midwestern ski areas–none of which have yet opened. Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Ski Brule is able to offer a more exciting alternative to the woeful Packer fans of the area.
Nearly 300 skiers per day are carving down the 18-to-36 inch base on the Log Jam trail and conditions are perfect for snowmaking with temperatures dropping to around 24 degrees for the past few nights.
“We use every opportunity we can to make snow and by the weekend we hope to have three more runs open,” said Jessica Bugarsky, of the Ski Brule Marketing Department. Ski Brule also plans to open for daily business on Friday, Nov. 19.
No rest for the snowguns though, Ski Brule keeps them running late into the spring, to uphold their tradition as the last ski area to close in the Midwest.
Lift ticket prices are $24 adults, $20 juniors, $21 seniors, and kids nine and under ski for free.
