Looking to impress your buddies? Be the first on your hill to whip out a pair of Ogasaka E-Turn FXs. A Japanese brand making its American debut this season, Ogasaka is a newcomer to the continent but not to the sport. In 1912,furniture maker Hamataro Ogasaka fashioned skis fora local ski team in Nagano. Since then, his namesakes have raced at the Olympics and World Championships. The company claims many innovations, including the first fiberglass and first Kevlar skis, as well as the first with ceramic silicon bases-which, we must admit, we’re not entirely familiar with. But give them their due: TheE-Turn FX is a fine ski and its limited stateside distribution this season will likely boost its cool factor.
