Snowshoe, WV, Nov. 28, 2000–When Snowshoe Mountain opened on Nov. 22, they serviced the most terrain ever for an opening day in the resort’s 27-year history. Twenty-five percent of Snowshoe and Silver Creek’s terrain was open for skiing. Ideal snowmaking conditions then allowed the resort to open more than twice as much terrain by the weekend.
For those not satisfied with carving down groomers, Snowshoe’s terrain park and tubing hill are also in full swing. The Ruckus Ridge Tubing Hill offers the only snow tubing in the state. The Mountaineer Terrain Park at Silver Creek, besides a tabletop, wedge, and rail, will include a 450-foot long halfpipe by the weekend of Dec. 2.
