Organizers of the zany St. Patrick’s Celtic Obstacle Race warn this dual slalom features more than just standard race gates. Set for 11:00 AM on the World Cup O’ Run course, the competition is open to all-Irish or not-and carries a prize purse of $500.

Squaw Valley
Skiers of all abilities will enjoy this green trail-yes, colored green–down the 3.5 mile Mountain Run to the Base Village. Look for traditional Irish folk music and plenty of cold green beer at the Plaza Bar, or choose from other festive food and drink specials at over twenty spots in the village. St. Pat’s kicks off the spring skiing season at Squaw with the opening of the High Camp Swimming Lagoon & Spa, overlooking Lake Tahoe.

Stakes run high at the Dublin Down Skiercross and Boardercross Battle, in which snow sliders of both leanings go head-to-head in a downhill race. Some great prizes and a festive apres-ski scene await participants at the base.

Check out the St. Patrick’s Day Bump Off competition and exhibition, featuring top moguls skiers. After dark, don’t miss the Perfect Turn Pros performing a special St. Pat’s torchlight parade.

The resort know affectionately as “the Irish Alps” throws the mother of all St. Patrick’s day parties for the 36th year in a row. Look for green snow, leprechauns, live Irish music, corned beef and cabbage, and slush jumping-all part of the “Annual Irish Olympics Festival.” If your name is Kelley or O’Donnell, you ski for free! Skiers and non-skiers are welcome to hear the sounds of “Curragh’s Fancy,” one of Boston’s top Irish groups, as well as the McMurphy’s, and the Blackthorn Shillelagh’s, and several bagpipers, all topped off by a grand fireworks display on Friday night.

Mt. Sunapee Ski Area
Look for “pots of gold” hidden on the mountain to win prizes. Apres-ski entertainment includes black & tan pints and Irish music at Goosefeathers Pub.

Waterville Valley Ski Resort
Ski for just $17, with this St. Pat’s special-a longstanding Waterville tradition. Afterwards, check out an informal apres-ski celebration at the T-Bar, at the base.

Mad River Glen
Go green and get two lift tickets for one. If you and a friend are both sporting green ski wear, that’s just $29 between the two of you.

Look for the “Pots of Gold” containing great prizes hidden on the mountain slopes. The popular Irish musical group, “Gypsy Reel”, will perform at an apres-ski party at the Sitting Bull Lounge.

Snowshoe Mountain Resort
Don’t miss the Rolling Rock St. Patty’s Day Bar Hop, a raging pub-crawl that takes in eight bars at the base, starting at 4:30 PM. For $40, you get eight beer coupons, a T-shirt, Snowshoe memorabilia, plenty of munchies, and unlimited rides on a shuttle bus that loops the hot spots.
