Ashcroft, Colo.

Located 12 miles above Aspen in a Forest Service in-holding, Star Peak Cabin offers beautiful views of the Elk Mountain Range. The cabin is touted as “rustic living,” but aside from its woodsy charm and backcountry setting, there’s little rough about it.

Partners of Star Peak Cabin will find the secluded getaway is turnkey to the smallest detail. Pre-arrival shopping service is available upon request, and daily housekeeping service is provided. There’s storage for personal items-from equipment to photographs-all of which can be set up in the cabin for your arrival.

There’s a cabin manager who acts as concierge, booking reservations and scheduling activities. Motorized access is limited, but the cabin manager is on call with two snowmobiles and a snowcat.

The cabin has five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a great room and an open living, dining and kitchen area with a fireplace. There is also a jacuzzi on the large deck.

Just out the door, 18 miles of meticulously groomed nordic trails wind around the more than 600 acres that surround the turn-of-the-century mining town of Ashcroft. All of the nordic trails lead to the Pine Creek Cookhouse (less than a mile away) to which you can ski, snowshoe or hail a sleigh ride. The gourmet restaurant serves both lunch and dinner (on the deck, weather permitting), and offers great views of Taylor Mountain and Star Peak.

Star Peak Cabin is ideal for skiers, hikers, bikers, horseback riders and anglers-or people who simply enjoy seclusion.

The partners’ guiding principle is to create “the ambience and solitude of backcountry living.”
