NEWRY, MAINE Oct. 19, 2004 — Sunday River has teamed with Global Over 50 Ski Club (GO50) to offer a theme week for skiers ages 50 and over Jan. 23-28. The week long activities include après ski socials, organized group skiing, snowmaking tours, dinner specials, clinics and a sock hop. Packages begin at $239 per person for five nights lodging, five days skiing and a Perfect Turn clinic, or a one-night package starts at $55 for one-night lodging, one-day lift ticket and free Perfect Turn Clinic.
Sunday River has 128 trails and 663 skiable acres spread across eight mountain peaks and a powerful snowmaking system that covers 92 percent of its terrain. It consistently ranks as one of the top ski areas in New England for grooming. Its 18 lifts include four high-speed quads. The resort is less than 90 minutes from Portland, Maine and is near Bethel, a quintessential New England village with an historic district, restaurants and shops. The Mountain Explorer provides free public transportation between the resort and Bethel. Outlet shopping at North Conway, New Hampshire is a little more than an hour away. Sunday River’s annual Gotta Rock College Week announced
The perennial favorite among college students, Sunday River’s Gotta Rock College Week, is slated for January 2-6. The week includes a welcome party, nightly entertainment with live music, a comedy night and a late night screening of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, as well as all-you-can-eat buffets. Packages begin at $239 per person for five nights lodging, five days skiing a Perfect Turn clinic, or a one-night package is $55 for one day lodging, one-day lift ticket and free Perfect Turn Clinic. Single-day lift tickets for college students are $29 all week. Students must present a valid college ID to participate in any offering. Sunday River’s second annual Children’s Festival announced
Sunday River’s Children’s Festival, where kids ages 4-12 ski and stay for free, is slated for January 9-14. In addition, children receive free clinics and rentals each day and the package also includes half-price daycare. Activities scheduled for the week include photograph with Sunday River Snow Monsters, Welcome Reception, entertainment, parents night out, children’s races and much more. For theparents, ski and stay packages start at $85 per person, per night.
