Despite a lack of new episodes over the winter, The Fifty Project has been hard at work ticking off more lines from the book “50 Classic Ski Descents of North America.” The ski mountaineering project starring professional skier Cody Townsend and videographer Bjarne Salen faced a number of challenges this winter, including low snow totals, dangerous avalanche conditions, a continued global pandemic, and a closed Canadian border.
Townsend released an update about the project (embeded above) and promises that all of the new episodes filmed over the past winter will be released this fall.
“I do think this is our best season to date,” says Townsend in the update. “We had some incredible guests, some incredible mountains, and, what I think, our best stories.”
Based on the footage, there will be more bike riding (following in the slipstream of The Mountain Why), some winter camping and #vanlife trips, plus guest appearances by Alex Honnold, Hilary Nelson, and more. There’s also likely to be plenty of tough climbs and tougher conditions during descents.
