Big Mountain Skiers

PERKS

Nikolai Schirmer, Flo Bastien, and others prove that big mountain skiing is alive and well in Europe.

Tip: Fast forward to 3:06 if you want to go for one heck of a ride.

Last year, Black Crows Skis athletes Nikolai Schirmer and Flow Bastien released Shapes, introducing the greater public to the current state of European big mountain skiing. With styles heavily influenced by Americans like Seth Morrison, Eric Pollard, and Chris Bentchetler, these guys take that style to the next level in places like Chamonix, Norway’s Lyngen Alps, Laax, Tignes, and Val d’Isere. It’s a sight to see to say the least.

But what stands out most about PERKS is Asbjørn Eggebø Næss’ insanely scary avalanche footage starting at 3:08. Everything about that footage is spooky, and we’re just glad he’s OK. Please don’t try that at home, for the love of all that is good.
