For the last five years, Skiing has ranked resorts according to your input. We send your survey results to a statistics company that - and we hope they're reading this - takes us to the cleaners just to process them. We take the pain because we want to know what you think. And thou hath spoken. This year, you've chosen your favorite overall mountain, as well as backcountry access, steeps, trees, park, powder, apres, and eastern resort. And we've added a few of our favorites. Welcome to Skiing's inaugural Resort Awards.

Bax Attack: Climbing the East's Mount Katahdin
Mount Katahdin, Maine's highest point, isn't the East's formidable ski-mountaineering test piece simply because of its technical difficulty. The 15-mile ski approach is damn long and the permit paperwork from Maine's Baxter State Park authority is daunting. But late last March after a classic Northeastern weather pattern - rain followed by a cold snap - photographer Brian Mohr, Emily Johnson, Heidi Gleissman, and Ian Forgays spent three days climbing and skiing the 5,246-foot behemoth.
